And so, when the other side reacts (in what it calls self-defense) then the first side interprets it as an attack (becasue of its DISCONNECTION from the stories and sense-making of the other side) and tells a story that "those people on the other side" are evil monsters who only want to harm our side..
It's quite amazing how similar the story that each side tells itself to the story that the other side tells itself , it is practically the SAME STORY - we are the victims here who are only protecting ourselves from the aggression of those evil people over there who only want to harm us and hate us for no reason. And I can't help but notice that all this lack of understanding happens simply because there is NO CONTACT between the "sides". This advice, to contact and work through political representatives in Congress, is of course excellent. However, as long as the propaganda machine is churning out hate messages, much of the citizenry will continue to be exposed to only one side of the story that is the wrong side. Any advice about how to counter all this propaganda from the war profiteers and their political puppets?
The most horrifying reality is the incessant bombing of the people of Gaza; the next most disturbing is the "propaganda machine" convincing friends and family of "the wrong side", as you say. Appreciate Dennis' words in my email this morning, even if that's all we can hope for.
I do write my senators and congressman. I just wish once they would respond with something besides the opposite of what I urge them to consider. They answer is always the same--they know better than I what is vital to US interests. It is so sickening when these wars and the defense spending do nothing to improve security for Americans.
More importantly, they are making the poor and under educated in this country much worse off. Even the US only has so much money. We don't need to spend it to support the killing of anyone...enemy or friend.

I agree with your sentiments about war, and most other things, I thought your book of power and light was wonderful and have recommended it often. Thank you...But no senator or congressman is going to give a fig about a comment or a letter. We are way past that. I suggest that you advocate mass protests and national strikes. This democracy is not! And sociopaths, usually socialized into becoming so, by their participation in our government, run the show in DC. This should be stated loudly, and often!
